Digestive Health and Gut Health
A happy belly equals a happier you.
According to Ayurveda, your overall well-being and health depend a lot on how you digest things you take in from nature. Ayurveda also emphasizes the strengthening of ‘Agni’ or the digestive fire that aids in the creation of healthy tissues in the body and also the ejection of waste material from the digestive system. A weak digestive system leads to the problem of improper eating, bloating, gas, indigestion, acidity, and erratic bowel movements, which in turn disrupts metabolic fire further causing ‘Mandaagni’ (a root cause of nearly all ailments). An unhealthy digestive system makes your body store toxic materials in the form of ‘Ama’.
Switching to Ayurvedic Aharcharya and ‘Dinacharya’ improves your metabolism and regularizes bowel movements naturally. It emphasizes on:-
- Eating according to your ‘Dosha’, or body type (Everybody has an individual body type/Prakriti).
- Eating according to the seasons (Diet should be modified as per seasonal and diurnal variations).
- Eat locally and fresh whenever possible.
- Eat with awareness and presence and also cook or source food that is made with joy and mindfulness.
- Observe how you feel after you eat.
- Exercise regularly. Choose exercise as per your body type.
- Avoid ‘Adhyashan’ (Eating before digestion of previous food) and ‘Vishmashan’ (Taking food irregularly or without following a particular time).
